FOR THE LOVE OF BETSEY JOHNSON

and the CHRISTMAS TREE she designed that she’ll be lighting at the Plaza hotel in NYC tomorrow. how i wish i was on the other side of the country for this.

the above is a sketch of the tree from the Plaza’s website. if that wasn’t cool enough, it’s also going to be themed around Eloise- the mischievous, Plaza hotel-residing heroine of Kay Turner’s 1955 book. i LOVED Eloise when I was a kid.

in fact, in 2010 Betsey Johnson designed the “Eloise suite” at the Plaza, where you can spread out on the hot pink bedspread, dance to your heart’s content on the zebra print carpet, and basically just be Eloise for a day. how did i not know about this.

it’s officially on the top of my wishlist to go spend a weekend in the Eloise suite and see the Betsey Johnson Christmas tree. sometime within the next 3 weeks. we’ll see how that goes.

since that’s unlikely to materialize, at least i can say my new favorite shoes this winter are in fact Betsey Johnsons. I found them on the free people website and instantly fell in love. I can’t wait to wear them!

i was going to wait until tomorrow to post about this Eloise tree awesomeness in hopes that there would be some photos of the tree lighting itself online, but i just couldn’t wait. so perhaps there will be a follow up blog.

speaking of trees, i bought mine yesterday! it’s up and running and i’m just putting the finishing touches on it. needless to say, i really have absolutely no room whatsoever for it in my apartment, but why on earth should that stop me from getting one?! it didn’t and i’m thrilled. not only does my car smell AWESOME now from having the tree stuffed in the back for half an hour, but the house smells like evergreen heaven. this is so much better than that one anthropologie candle that’s supposed to smell like a christmas tree.
